In Rae Bareilly, an 87-year-old sadhu, Shyam Sadhuji, is known as the "Monkey Man" for his unwavering commitment to feeding over a thousand monkeys daily. For more than 50 years, he has made it his life's mission to care for these animals, despite his health challenges. Sadhuji doesn't just provide food; he also looks after injured and sick monkeys, ensuring they survive the harsh conditions of the area.
"Over the years, I have watched many animals starve and die. I can't stand to see them suffer," says Sadhuji. "Despite my old age and ailments, I will continue to feed them because they are helpless and need someone to care for them."
Sadhujis compassion for animals began in his childhood when he fed stray animals near his school. This compassion turned into a lifelong commitment to animal welfare. Today, even at 87, he tirelessly feeds the monkeys, delivering quintals of wheat, chana, and fruits daily.
Though he's getting old, his spirit remains the driving force behind this cause. "I am proud that I have the privilege of taking care of these monkeys, he adds. This is not just my work, it's my legacy."
Every day, Sadhuji sits beneath trees, where monkeys come to him for food. They show their gratitude by surrounding him with affection. It's a sight to behold, as these creatures show their appreciation for the care and compassion Sadhuji provides. Yet, after decades of feeding the monkeys, he is now struggling with the logistics of continuing his work.
Shyam Sadhuji now needs your help to ensure his mission continues. The costs of feeding over a thousand monkeys, caring for injured animals, and transporting food are becoming overwhelming. Sadhuji requests donations to provide better food, medical supplies for the monkeys, and a vehicle to help with the transport of essentials.
"I need help now," says Sadhuji. "I am old, and I don't know how long I can continue. But I want to ensure that these monkeys are well cared for, even after I am gone."
Supporting Shyam Sadhuji is a chance to help these helpless monkeys get the nourishment, care, and love they need. Every donation will contribute to a brighter future for these animals. Let's join hands to help Sadhuji care for these voiceless souls. Together, we can make a real difference in their lives.
