Story

Imagine tiny newborns, abandoned in the most desperate conditions: left in gutters, discarded in dustbins, or cradled only by cardboard in railway stations. These innocent lives, some born prematurely, enter the world with the odds stacked against them. Their survival hinges on immediate care and compassion.

Each cry echoing through the halls of Kalaiselvi Karunalaya Social Welfare Society (KKSS) tells a story of resilience against abandonment and neglect. Founded in 1983 by the compassionate Mr. A. Purushothaman, and now run by Rajini Devi,  KKSS has been a beacon of hope for these vulnerable infants, rescuing them from the brink of despair and offering them a second chance at life.

When we rescue these newborn babies, our hearts break to see the condition they’re in. Many times, the umbilical cord is still attached to them., Rajini Devi.

The journey of each abandoned newborn is fraught with challenges—malnutrition, dehydration, and the constant threat of infections. Without immediate medical intervention, their fragile lives hang in the balance. Premature babies, in particular, require round-the-clock care and specialized medical attention to navigate their precarious early days.

Till now KKSS has rescued and helped hundreds of abandoned newborn babies. Many of them were also adopted into happy families and now live a good life.

However there are many children that are still in the shelter home, KKSS shelters over 20+ precious souls. They arrive fragile, often malnourished and sickly, needing more than just shelter—they need nurturing, specialized care, and unconditional love.

KKSS's Commitment:

Hygiene Kits: For premature babies, cleanliness is not just a comfort but a lifeline against infections. KKSS provides hygiene kits to ensure a sterile sanctuary where these fragile lives can thrive.
