In a quiet village in Odisha, an elderly couple, Shyamsundar Jaal and Kasturi Jaal, have dedicated their lives to giving abandoned children a home filled with love, care, and dignity. For decades, they have rescued newborns left in garbage bins, infants discarded by roadsides, and children found starving and alone at railway stations. At Jashoda Orphanage, these children are not just given shelter—they are given a family
What started with one helpless child has now become a home for over 100 children, each with a heartbreaking past but a future full of hope. Within these walls, no child goes to bed hungry or feels alone.
Here, the children are well-fed with nutritious meals, ensuring their physical and mental growth. Freshly cooked rice, vegetables, lentils, milk, and fruits nourish them daily. Festivals are celebrated with special treats, laughter, and joy, just like in any loving family.
Education is a priority, and every child is given the opportunity to study and dream. Schools and tutors ensure they receive a good education, while extracurricular activities like music, sports, and cultural programs enrich their childhood.
But more than anything,Jashoda Orphanage is a place of warmth and belonging. The children call Shyamsundar and Kasturi "Baba" and "Maa" because here, they are not orphans—they are sons and daughters.
They grow up not in an institution but in a home filled with care, guidance, and unconditional love.
"These children come to us broken, afraid, and alone. But in time, they laugh again, they dream again. That is the greatest reward," says Kasturi.
Over the years, Jashoda Orphanage has become a sanctuary for those who were once discarded. It is a place where abandoned children find not just survival but a childhood full of warmth, love, and endless possibilities.
Yet, with more children arriving every month, resources are stretched thin.
Your support can help ensure that every child here continues to have food, education, and the security of a loving home.
Contribute now. Be a part of their journey and help give them the life they deserve.
